Manchester Enterprise Centre to host Falling Walls Lab
The Manchester Enterprise Centre is to host a Falling Walls Lab on 27th July 2016.
Falling Walls Lab is an international forum aimed at promoting interdisciplinary connections between excellent academics, entrepreneurs and professionals from all fields. Manchester Enterprise Centre is now calling on students from across the University of Manchester to consider, ‘Which walls will fall next?’, and share their research, visions and business models with a panel of experts.
Each successful entrant will have three minutes to present their idea at the event. They must identify which ‘wall’ they want to break – which problem their research and ideas will help to solve.
Winners of the international Labs will be invited to the Falling Walls Lab Finale in Berlin, where they will again give their three minute presentations, before three overall winners are selected. Each winner is then invited to speak at the Falling Walls Conference on 9th November, which features presentations from some of the world’s most prominent scientists.
The Falling Walls Lab was founded by the Falling Walls Foundation in 2011, in order to connect emerging talents and senior innovators, and support and develop outstanding researchers. It is supported by Founding Partner, A.T. Kearney and Global Partner, Festo. The Falling Walls Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Berlin, dedicated to the support of science and humanities.
Manchester Enterprise Centre is hosting the event as part of the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), which takes place in Manchester from 23rd -27th July. Every two years, ESOF brings together over 4,500 leading thinkers, innovators, policy makers, journalists and educators from more than 90 countries, to discuss current and future breakthroughs in contemporary science.
Falling Walls Lab will take place on 27th July from 12pm – 6pm, at the Lord Mayors Parlour, Manchester Town Hall.
The competition is open to Bachelor and Masters students, PhD candidates, postdocs, junior professors and entrepreneurs from all disciplines. Application deadline 3rd July.
